Sunset at Lands End

Writer: Michael CarpenterMichael Carpenter

Lands End in San Francisco has a great view of the entry to the San Francisco Bay, including the Golden Gate Bridge, and an unobstructed view of the sunset. It is part of the larger Golden Gate National Recreation Area

When we arrived, an hour before sunset, the sky was completely overcast. We worried that the shoot would be a washout. But, the clouds broke up into beautiful streaks that reflected the sunset.
The sunset catches the scattered clouds

The sunset catches the clouds behind the Golden Gate Bridge.

As the sun drops, the colors in the clouds change from golden to pink.

As night falls, the bridge lights up.

The crescent moon peeks through the scattered clouds, silhouetted by the wind-swept trees.
