ABOUT ME
I'm a native Californian, but I've also lived in Utah and Idaho. While I've done many kinds of photography, my real love is landscapes and nature. I also love kayaking and sharing my kayak adventures with others through photography.

My journey in photography began when I borrowed my grandfather's camera and took it to the 1975 World's Fair in Spokane, Washington.
In 1978, I received a Pentax K1000 camera for high school graduation. My best friend also got a camera for graduation and we both went crazy taking photos.
That summer, I spent some time in Tanzania, Africa. Even though all I had was a 50mm lens, I took some great photos. One of my bucket list items is to return with a telephoto and spend more time photographing the wildlife there.
During my freshman year of college, I took two photography courses. Although I studied computer science, I kept working on my photography, including portraits and documenting life in general.
I love nature and the outdoors and always carried my camera with me when camping, hiking or snowshoeing. Spending time in nature was a distraction from the workday grind of a 30 year career as a software engineer. During 20+ years as a Boy Scouts of America volunteer leader, I was able to lead scouts on many adventures, mostly in the wilds of Idaho.
I'm currently taking a break from my computer programming career and focusing on my photography even more. I'm back in California and enjoying the scenery, especially the rugged Northern California Coast.
